As a pest controller in excess of 22 years I have come to the opinion we are using too many chemicals to control pests, if chemicals have to be used I advocate the minimum amount to achieve the required result.

In 1986 I was carrying out pest control on a part time basis, controlling rabbits and moles on agricultural land and being asked to remove the odd squirrel from a loft. In the following years I went on to learn the art of pest controlling and believe me it is an art, attending various training courses and gaining the required experience and necessary certificate’s to enable me to purchase the required control products. I went on to write articles for newspapers and magazines, as I continue to do. I then started training farmers, gamekeepers and smallholders how to trap Moles, Rabbits, Squirrels and rodents.

I give talks to interested parties, such as Gardeners Clubs, Young Farmers, Ladies groups, in fact if someone will listen I will talk about pests !

About 10 years ago I became concerned with the effect of toxic chemicals being used to control even the most mundane of pests such as slugs, and snails. I then had a particular contract that was proving difficult to control, the rat infestation though not large would not respond to “normal” bait, I then decided to try 2 methods of control using one product that works on the rodent in a different way to anti-coagulants, this is used as a food replacement not a food supplement, I also used a revolutionary (at that time) kill trap called a Nooski and I had the infestation under control in 3 weeks and a happy customer.

I then decided where ever possible I would adopt the method of pest control without the excessive use of chemicals, I realise that some pests will not be controlled using eco- friendly products, but the majority WILL

The use of rat traps, rabbit traps, mole traps etc is quite involved and over the years I have become adept at trapping animals, this knowledge is available to anyone who buys products from my online shop, I am only a phone call away for advice.

Although we use GREEN methods we still sometimes have to kill animals so please be aware that pest control could involve animals dying, this should be done as humanly as possible and in accordance with The Wildlife & Countryside Act (1981)

With control you need to open minded and have confidence in the product, this is why I test and or use all the products I sell.
