There are numerous old wife’s tales about Mole catching and having tried every one I have been told about I can tell you there is only 1 sure way of controlling Moles and that is to use traps, as a professional I was allowed to control Moles with Strychnine, that was stopped by the “clever people” in Europe since then there has been an increase in the Mole population.
Some of the methods I have tried are eggshell in the run, milk bottles in the ground, kids windmills you name it I have been open minded and tried it.
As I said trapping is a proven method, there are a few traps available, I tend to use the standard Mole Scissor Trap which is easy to set ands you have proof that you have caught the Mole.
The Duffus (tunnel) trap is popular with the older trapper and I do use this in shallow runs, I also sell, but don’t use, live catch Mole Traps, these are good, I have tried them and when I got a Mole I then got my revenge on the mole, I buried it alive, think about it before you say I was cruel!
There is also a smoke generator that coats the inside of the run with castor oil, I am not sure about this I had differing results, but I do sell quite a lot with no returns.
Don’t forget the sonic type of Mole chaser, these work well if moved quite often, tend to move them every few days, just a few yards make all the difference.
