Squirrel Control
Grey Squirrels (Sciurus carolinensis) have become such a problem in some areas that they are invading lofts and causing £1000s of damage, I recently had a job when a Squirrel had got into a loft where the occupants had gone on holiday, the house had modern water pipes, not copper, and the Squirrel had a great time, flooded 3 floors, the water was running for days and days so please don’t underestimate the damage a Squirrel can do.
There are quite a few options available, I like the new traps that are available, as with most thing they just get better with testing and development The Kania 2000 Squirrel trap is a good kill trap, the Squirrel is humanly despatched, these are mounted in the tree and are quite target specific.
The WCS tube Squirrel trap is a new addition to my site, I have been testing it for about 3 months and the results have been good, this trap is described in the relevant section, as with all the traps I sell they come with full instructions to achieve the required result.
There are numerous live catch Squirrel traps on the market, some of the traps from the East are not big enough and can cause un-necessary suffering to Squirrels, all my traps are tried and tested, the live catch Squirrel trap is the old fashioned and some say best type of trap, I use this extensively when my customers don’t want to see a dead Squirrel, I kill it away from the property.
The Elgecco is a fashionable trap for people who want to feed the birds and catch the Squirrel; I use one in my garden occasionally but more as a trap than a bird feeder, not my favourite trap but it works fine, this trap is made in Yorkshire, I like to source my traps from UK if possible.
I am always available to discuss trapping options, if I was starting I would go for The Live Catch Squirrel trap, good and of a proven design.
